What kind of lame summer is this? I'm freezing in my room and it's only August!! Freak tornadoes & floods....

Just when the chips are down, something to lift the spirit happens.
Photo taken during last year's rally is used for this year's rally!! whoopee..:D

Cover photograph, Stig Blomqvist and Ana Goni on their way to victory in their Ford Escort MK2 RS during last year's Roger Albert Clark Rally, taken in Rother Valley by Lawrence Looi.

Couldn't find some Yuan on the day China revalued the Yuan. Finally managed to something over the weekend which by then has become old news..

Another mad & exciting week indeed. Freak tornado ripping through Birmingham today & anti-terror raids yesterday happening on my patch! Absolutely manic as most of staffers are away on leave. Been working flat out managing the desk with Steve trying to get our photogs to the locations or even chasing the tornado! Poor Kiyoshi got drenched taking weather pics. Managed to squeeze in Sir Bobby Robson's book signing today at Borders..should've got his book & his autograph..but got his pictures anyway.

Stumbled onto a not so recent football pic of mine on Yahoo Japan, thanks to Kiyoshi, that was distributed by EPA and used by the Korean press. Pic of Stevie G grimacing as Liverpool crashed to a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal at Highbury Stadium, London on Sunday, 08 May 2005. They mixed up the caption with another pic of mine though.

Just love the weekends except that it still raining since this morning!!! Posted some pics of life in the garden from yesterday. Yes, I'm well on my way to Nat Geographic.
Hahahahah...wishful thinking!

Fly on flower. Wish I knew the scientific names..or even the common names.

What I like about Birmingham is its network of canals
running through the city centre. It's quite relaxing walking
along the canals but I wouldn't want to jump into it, hahaha..

Got bored while waiting to get a lift from
Anita so I shot this row of traffic barriers.

Ah...you can tell that someone had a smashing good time..

More incidents on the London Tube. See www.bbc.co.uk for latest news.

With the terror threat looming over us, some mailboxes have been sealed off...or that's what I think it's in relation to.

Plus a photo of what was happening a few hours in Birmingham after the London bombings. West Midlands police were conducting searches on the buses.

OH man forgot to ring Jac!! Hey Jac!!! Congratulations to you & Dev on tying the knot. Catch you all later next time i'm back home!

Roz, sorry - missed your farewell party. Travelling to London last weekend would've been a nightmare. Good luck with your new adventure in Hong Kong & see below the beautiful parts of good ol' Blighty that you'll be missing!!!

Simon rang me up last night wanting to go hiking at the Peak District. Considering Cathy wanted some time out, I thought it would be a good idea to get some fresh air. We drove up in his Vauxhall Nova which was hot-wired a few weeks ago but he managed to retrieve it after it had been found. Of course he had to pay £100 fee to collect it from the pound first. Poor bastard. It took us almost two hours to get there. Anyways weather was fantastic and we hiked along the Lyme trail in Disley for a good three hours before heading back to Brum. Some pics of from today's hike.

Here we go, 1,2,3...

Hike towards Bow Stones.

Hhmm..just missed out on the police cordoning off the high street which is a 5-minute walk from my place. Oh well..decided to meet up Anita who was covering the launch of JK Rowling's latest installment in the Harry Potter book series. No mad crowds so no pics! Was hoping people would be in a frenzied state.. Hahaha..

Will also try to do more blogging by email using my 3G mobile network. Might as well use it since I'm paying for it!

Today was the National Day of Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War Two. Birmingham organised a day-long of festivities culminating with a fireworks display. I didn't attend it but managed to catch the fireworks display from afar while walking home. Couple of snaps of the fireworks display. Although it wasn't as spectacular as London's New Year celebrations or Trafalgar 200.

I was at the Nature Centre with Cathy yesterday enjoying the warm weather. Pic of a cute Red Panda, Peacock and a Ninja turtle.

Birmingham City Centre was closed off last night with thousands evacuated for their safety due to security concerns. No loss of lives were reported and it has reopened. As for the aspiring photojournalist, quite embarrassing as I knew nothing about it till this morning. Slept like a baby.. :O

Right, think i'd probably get out of bed to scour the streets of Birmingham for news pictures before heading into work..

Family and friends in London are ok. I'm based in Birmingham now but was due to visit tonight but I'll have to sit tight due to traffic getting in and out there. The Malaysian High Commission have asked Malaysians to inform them of their status to assist them in knowing if anyone is missing, etc.

It's not a power surge as reported earlier but confirmed as a terrorist attack on London.

Latest news as London Underground network is closed after explosions blamed on power surge.BBC News.

George 'Friendly-fire' Bush crashes into a policeman during the G8 Summit in Gleaneagles. Hahaha....one of the world's most powerful man can't ride a pedal bike. See BBC story.

Have been doing pics of Cathy during my free time. Here's a small thumbnail of something that I did two weeks ago.

Another busy week in Birmingham as we're up in Gleaneagles covering G8. I'll be missing out on the action as I'm manning the desk down here in Brum making sure things are working as normal. See our News Team G8 link. www.g8pix
