'Muslim Burial for Malaysian hero'.
I didn't know him but I feel sorry for his family. Picked up this story from the BBC. This hero was a practising Hindu until recently, apparently. When he died, the religious authorities came to claim his body for burial against his family's wishes after former colleagues and religious authorities claimed he had converted to Islam. This follows the High Court ruling that it cannot interfere with the Islamic courts in matters of religious conversion. The family were not allowed to appeal at the Shariah court to dispute his conversion as they were not Muslims.
Where's the logic in this?

You should read the local Malaysian newspapers Lawrence, perhaps The Star online. Some minister had to say that we should register our religions in our MyKad so we won't have such problems in the future, but the fact is their lazy people have not been doing their work properly. A sizable number of people in many churches found out that they are 'buddhas' when they checked the info in the MyKads. Did they assume all Chinese are Buddhists, or they were just plain lazy, or they are afraid that there are more Christians in this country than thought? I know I wrote down in the form that I am a Christian, so why am I a "buddha"? Hmm...Where is Nirvana?
